ME problem configuring system key in adition to mouse button

Dec 4, 2009 at 1:16 PM

Hi all. I've started using ME recently and its' a very useful tool.

My only concern is regarding the configuration of the launch using mouse button launch, that I think can be configured in addition of a keyboard key.

I've tried in a lot of ways but then I open the settings window and I go with the mouse cursor over the "mouse button configuration" (and in the msgbox I can see the "Press any mouse button + system key..." message) I'm not able to associate aky key.

I see changes only pressing any mouse button (and it works only with the central one as I have to use another key in addition of the left or right button).

My configuration is based on a Notebook (HP EliteBook 8530, that have integrated both TouchStick and TouchPad) with external PS/2 mouse (2 buttons + wheel that works as middle button) and a dockingstation to use dual display config.

The OS used is Win XP SP3, and I've installed the following .net frameworks : 1.1, 2.0, 3.0 and 3.5

Let me know if it's a known bug or if is there a trick :-)

Many thanks in advance,

Mario

Hello Mario!

Let me explain how I do that, and then you will say if you are doing the same.

1. Open ME, settings. I see "middle button click" default configuration for "Mouse button configuration".

2. Move mouse pointer over textbox under "Mouse button configuration" label. Text is changed to "Press any mouse button...blabla" :)

3. I (this is a working example) press down Alt key and with keeping it pressed click with left mouse button onto this textbox.

Message is changed to "Alt + Left mouse button".

But when writing this guide, I noticed, that, after setting "Alt+Left click" I cant change it's value anymore until settings are reopened.

I will see where the issue originates from.

Btw, what keys did you try?

Sincerely yours, Alexander

Hi Alex,

I've tried but when I press any key (alt - shift - ctrl - and so on)
nothing happends.

Obviously I've tried when the mouse cursor eas on the textbox.

I've never been able to configure the apps to be launched with a mouse
button in combination with any key.

Is like the program doesn't 'feel' that I'm pressing a keyboard key.

Sorry for the bad english, I hope that you can understand what I mean.

KR,
Mario

Mario,

I clearly understand you, don't worry.

I have certain questions to you like following:

- what OS do you have installed? version and type (x86, x64)

- do you have any mouse-dependent software installed like special mouse drivers or utilities?

Sincerely yours, Alex.

Sorry,

I somehow forgot that you wrote all the information that I asked.

We will check the issue with Setpoint & Logitech mouse, maybe this fix will help.

Sincerely yours, Alex.

Thanks, In the meanwhile is there a way to force a key / button
combination via registry key or ini/cfg file?
KR,
Mario

I have created an issue for this problem. [bug] Mouse button configuration works unstable. Title is required.
